Repurpose an old lamp into a candlestick

I just wanted to thank you all for your support on my last post about the babe and her naps....or lack there of. I have implemented some of your recommendations and have had success! (I'm knocking on wood, can't jinx this). I've got her from crying for an hour or so and no nap to crying for about 5 minutes and a 20 minute nap. It's not no 2 hour nap, but hey! I'll take it :) So thank you all so much...you have no idea how much your support meant to me!
Repurpose an old lamp into a candlestick

Now let's get started...This is one of my favorite projects that I did awhile back when I first started blogging. I had some lamps that I found on the side of a dumpster. Didn't know that they didn't work when I picked them up..but they didn't. So they sat around my house for a few years. Then I had an aha! moment and repurposed them into some candlesticks.

Well, this current lamp was going to be repurposed into a table like a I did in this post awhile back, but then I realized that it wasn't sturdy enough to become a table. So....it too became a candlestick :)

This is a super simple project.
First, all you need to do is take out all it's lamp parts. The cord, the lightbulb holder, the lampshade (or course) and lampshade holder.

Then paint it.I just spray painted mine with some primer, loved the color so kept it at that.

Now get a plate, hot glue it onto the lamp base.
Repurpose an old lamp into a candlestick

Boom! There you have a candlestick. A super large candlestick for just a couple of dollars. Or free, if you happen to have an old lamp hanging around....or found one in the dumpster...don't worry, I'm not going to judge how you got it :)

I love large candlesticks but can never find them in a price range I would be willing to pay, so this is the perfect solution :)

  1. That is very cool! It looks better as a candlestick! Great tip to remember especially when you are standing in front of a really old one at the thrift store and wondering if it will start a fire if you don't rewire it:)!

  3. This is a great idea and makes me wish I wouldn't have donated a lamp I had that was very similar to yours. I just looked at a candle stick at TJ Maxx today that was very similar to your finished product. Nice job!
