Home For The Holidays: Living Room

I can't believe how fast this year has flown by! It feels surreal putting up the Christmas tree....and even more weird that Thanksgiving has already passed us by. A few months ago, I didn't think I would be able to put up our Christmas tree...nor decorate it...since I thought I would be uber pregnant and incapable of anything lol.
But! Apparently I'm not.....incapable that is...I'm still pregnant :) I was even thinking of buying a smaller tree instead of our current 9 foot tree just so it would be easier to put up and take apart...but the hubs wasn't on the same wave length. Then I went and found a 10 foot tree on black Friday at Home Depot for $200. I have never ever found a tree this tall this cheap...so of course I had to buy it :) We have been looking to replace the 10 year old or so (probably really 15 year old) tree for 4 years now, but never found a good deal. So I just couldn't pass on this one. So instead of an easy to put up and take down 6 foot tree, I now have an even harder to manage 10 foot tree lol. But I love it, and couldn't be happier. It's so so so much better than our 9 foot old one. Mainly because, it's like half the diameter so it takes up less floor space which was totally driving me mad, it's a foot taller of course, it's prelit, doesn't have 10 broken branches and doesn't lean 20 degrees to the right and have to be anchored to make it 'somewhat' straight :) Life is good lol

And yes, the hubs does help with putting this up. Just not decorating. Although, he did put the angel on the top :) As for the rest of it...all me. It's become a tradition in our family...Thanksgiving night, he brings up the tree from the basement, and I decorate it and the entire house while he plays lol. It's a nice little tradition ;) And I was silly to even think I wouldn't be able to decorate such a large tree being 9 months pregnant, but it was super easy...although you can kind of tell I couldn't reach the very top with the decor, there's like a foot of missing stuff lol. I did resort to throwing it up there and seeing if it would stick. Didn't work to well.
Last year I did a brown and white theme. This year I decided to go with all white for the tree. And I was going all white every where else, but it didn't fly too well with the hubs. He said it was boring, and not Christmassy at all........................................................ ugh. I kept telling him its magical and sparkly and looks like it snowed inside....But lucky for him,  I didn't want to spend any money on anything, so I had to use what I had on hand for the mantel, which were brown stockings. And then the brown just threw everything off. So I had to incorporate it into the rest of the room a little bit.
So I went to Joanns and bought some beautiful fabric for the some throw pillows, sewed it up lickity split using this tutorial (click here), threw in some light sea foam greenish/blue pillows and called it good :) I just love the fabric on the brown pillows. They aren't Christmassy at all, but it this setting, they totally look it. And they tie the brown stockings and wreath into the rest of the room really well.
As for the tree, it was simple. Just decorated it with some white tulle, white poinsettias, white and silvery balls, snow flakes, and a few ball looking garland pieces (?)..lol have no idea what to really call them :) They are pretty though! ...look like pearls :)
I of course had to add my jute Christmas trees to the tree stumps...I love how they look there. I also love how my sweet little mutt looks :) He can't get enough of those pillows lol. He's usually on top of them and has at least one if not two of them folded in some crazy fashion with his head peering from underneath. He's a silly one :)
It's crazy to think this is how everything is going to look when we bring our sweet little baby home in just a few weeks! I'm so excited :)

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! ...and got some crazy awesome deals ;)
