My Christmas home tour is continuing on today with my cozy Christmas bedroom decor. I'm all about waking up and going to bed with Christmas in my bedroom and all the twinkly lights. It's magical :) I'm joining other tours today sharing their beautiful Christmas homes with host, Marty from A Stroll Thru Life. If you are following along the tour, welcome from Pink Peppermint Design! I just love Tammy's home especially during Christmas time!
Adding Christmas into a bedroom is super simple and requires small swaps to make a big change, just like most other rooms in your house....and it's totally worth it :) I have some simple tips at the bottom of this post on just how to do it.
Let's talk about the Christmas decor in my bedroom. On the bench in front of my bed, I added layers of pillows and a tray with pinecones, fairy lights, and a Christmas tree. To soften this area more, I placed two floor cushions under the bench along with a faux sheep skin rug. This rug was from Costco last year; it is seriously the softest rug I have ever felt. I bought two back then and only wish I had bought more!
I changed up this corner recently and added some more board and batten along this wall to brighten the corner up. I will eventually add the board and batten to the top of the ceiling. I added a peg rail to hang some more decor. I kept it simple this year with a hanging blanket, lunch bag snowflake and antique frame.
I switched out my normal lamps for these huge lanterns from Hobby Lobby. There's something about lanterns and Christmas for me. They pair well together :) For my nightstands, I also added a faux tree and books.
For the bedding, since I have a lot of decor going on, I decided to go simple with the colors. I added lots of layers though with the pillows and the blankets. I added a little pop of color with the tartan pillow covers.
Above my bed, I hung this shelf I bought a few months ago. I had like 5 places I wanted to put this and none of them worked out. So...I put it above my head. I have a thing about putting things above my head while sleeping. We don't get earthquakes hardly at all. We had a small one last year, but nothing too big. We are due for a huge one....so it kind of freaks me out having something that can fall on me while sleeping :) So, this is a big step for me! Those little houses are held on with earthquake puddy :) And the shelf is secure, although I don't think that helps. I still may take this down shortly! I kept it pretty simple on these shelves also. I added a pop of greenery with the faux garland.
I love putting a tree in my bedroom. I have it on a timer so it pops off when I got to bed and pops on when I wake up....also can be an alarm clock when I'm not ready to wake up :) ha!
I went with a boho look on the tree with these DIY boho ornaments. You can check out the tutorials for these in the Christmas edition of Country Sampler Farmhouse Style magazine :) I also added this beaded garland with the wool balls.
For my faux fireplace, I kept the color scheme simple, but warmed it up with candles. When these flames go, it's so cozy!
Here's another full look at my cozy Christmas bedroom decor:
Tips on getting the perfect cozy Christmas bedroom look:- Swap out day-to-day plants/greenery with Christmas trees or greens.
- Layer! Use lots of pillows and blankets. Even layer your rugs, one big one with a smaller one.
- Add in texture! Through wood, textiles, baskets, wall decor, pillows and blankets, etc.
- Use different forms of lights from twinkling Christmas lights, to lamps, lanterns, fairy lights, and candlelight.
- Make your bed for warmth! Add blankets and keep you warm like down comforters and quilts. Add a throw blanket at the bottom of the bed for extra warmth.

I always wish I did more to my bedroom when I see beautiful Christmas bedrooms like yours! It looks like the perfect getaway/haven through the holiday season. Love those little buildings above the headboard.
ReplyDeleteYour bedroom is the epitome of cozy. The layers, the decor on the pegs, the mantel, that shelf above your bed - everything is so pretty. I'm not sure I'd ever want to get out of that bed though. And I can't imagine dealing with earthquakes but I totally understand why you prefer not having anything above your head! I've always wondered what it felt like to be in an earthquake. Here in Texas we deal with tornados and baseball sized hail. Thank you for sharing your beautiful bedroom and it was so nice hopping with you this week. Merry Christmas!
