Refreshing The Front Room

Ever have a room that you aren't completely happy with no matter how much you change it up? My front room is one of those rooms. If you scroll through my blog over the past years, you'll see what I mean. This poor room has gone through a lot. But! I think it's finally getting there.

I've done a few changes over the past couple of months to freshen it up a bit. One of the biggest changes is this cute little storage table from Target. I've had my eye on this baby for awhile now, and Target decided to do a one day sale, 30% off plus 10% off. Then I got my Redcard discount for 5% off. With all of that, I saved around $80 and got this beaut for $100. Not bad :) I've wanted it for a few places in my house, but it finally found it's home here in my front room, replacing the nightstand side table that was here for awhile. Thank goodness it's gone! lol. I kept wanting to pull out this sofa into a mattress or something :)

The next changes were just adding some new decor and changing out the pillows. This pillow in the corner I decided to go with something a little more graphic. I love how much impact this pillow has brought to the space. It's crazy what a few little words can do :) I scored this pillow cover on Amazon for $5. Yes, I could have made it. No, it wouldn't have been that cheap. P.S. Amazon has great deals on pillow covers ;)

As for the console table, I've added a few new things I found. Namely the circle of twigs. I can't get over how much I like this thing. It's one of those scores that you find when walking around the aisles, and you really don't want to buy anything, and then it jumps at you, and catches your eye, and you have to get it. You know...one of those things :) (yes, that was big run on sentence, it was meant to be ;) ) Even though I had no place for it in my house when I brought it home, I quickly found a place. I'm sure it'll make it rounds soon enough though.

This white deer head was a find online at Target.com over the winter. Besides loving it, it's also my attempt at adding in some of my husband's aesthetic into the place since he's an avid hunter, and well....all of his mounts currently only grace the basement. :) But! Lucky for him, I do like to decorate with his antler sheds. See, it's all about compromise lol

These tree stumps are still my favorite part of this room. It gives it somewhat of a lodge-y type of feel. Plus, they are apparently quite fun to jump off of...just ask my daughter. :)

As for next steps with this room. As much as I love it, I really hate the paint color in here. I think more than anything, I hate that the paint color matches the sofa. I've been looking for white slipcovers for this couch for awhile now, and can't justify spending as much as I would need to for them. Especially since I got this couch for $90. So, either I buy a new sofa or paint the walls. Painting walls is by far the cheapest thing to do, so that will be happening. As for the color? White or light grey? Thoughts on the matter?  If it's white, my gallery wall won't 'pop' like it does currently and I really love that...that's the only issue there. Decisions, decisions...

As for the couch pillows, those are new also. Yes, I'm only adding to my hoard of pillows. But I couldn't help but get them. They are all from Home Goods.

Want to hear something that will blow your mind? The most expensive part of this room was the $100 storage cabinet. Crazy huh? Well...let me clarify, the rug may have been a tad more expensive, but that was a Christmas gift from my family so no out of pocket for me. Everything else was hand-made, thrifted, got for free, or super super on clearance (aka the couch).

As for my last post and promising the 'how-to' on the sub-floor, that's coming; I promise! I lost the process pictures on it...so yeah ;) When I get those, I'll be sure to throw up the post!

  1. I love the new cabinets and accessories. Gorgeous. This definitely doesn't look like a room on a budget.

  2. Your home tour is beautiful. I especially like how you have cozy little corner arrangements and those curly cues above some of the doorways and windows. Very nice.

  3. Question: I'm wanting to get a piece of furniture from Target that is in the same line as your storage cabinet. It says the color is "shell" though, but in your photos it looks white. Would you say that it is totally white? Or an off white? Thanks for your help! I hate buying stuff online and not knowing what it truly looks like!
