Dresser Transformation and a Giveaway Winner!

I'm finally almost done with the nursery :) ....almost. I say that now, and then I think of all I have to do and well....at least I have the crib up and the painting done! To save money, I decided to use what I had for the most of the nursery, which means a few furniture transformations :) and which means a lot of handmade stuff. So, I know a lot of what I do around here is a lot of DIY stuff on decorating the home. The home pertains to pretty much everyone, but the nursery on the other hand is a smaller percentage. So, I'm just giving you all a heads up, I have a ton...I mean a ton...of DIY projects for the nursery, since that's obviously my life right now. So I'm going to start a series soon: A Handmade Nursery. Don't worry...I'll be sure to add in a few other non related nursery DIY projects in there too :)

Now lets get on with the first furniture transformation ...
So, here's the before of the dresser. I was given this by a neighbor who was going to throw it out. Nice huh?

Maybe someone else's style, just not mine :) I did spraypaint it awhile back when I pretty much spraypainted everything but the dog (actually, he may have been spraypainted, but it was unintentional and totally his nosey butt's fault)...but I decided it needed another update. Plus the spraypaint left much to be desired :).... apparently I wasn't really patient back then and didn't care to wait for the spraypaint to dry to add more coats....talk about lots of drips lol.

To finish the dresser to it's new luster, I sanded the heck out of it. Mainly to get rid of the leaf print which was raised a bit. ...and the spraypaint runs ;)
Next was to prime and then paint.
For the paint, I used Crisp Linen White from Glidden. As I said before, this is my go to white paint. It isn't stark white; it gives off a little warmth, but it's pretty much as white as you can get :)

As for the knobs, I got some cute flat white flower knobs from Hobby Lobby for $1.50 each (on sale).
I love what a fresh coat of paint can do to anything!
Now to finish the rest of the nursery and all the shopping...these babies require a lot of stuff lol. In T minus 5 weeks, I'm getting a little overwhelmed :)
Any tips on what I for sure need before this baby comes would be greatly appreciated! :)

........Now for the Verde Lifestyles Giveaway Winner....according to random.org, goes to Courtney! Comment #5! Guess it finally pays to be one of the first commenters :) Courtney, check your email, I'll be getting in contact with you soon!! Congratulations!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

I want to see more of the nursery! The dresser is so cute
Yes, get as much sleep and "alone time" as you can! Other than that have lots of diapers and wipes...I'm really racking my brain on what you need before baby but can't come up with much.

  3. Awesome as always! I appreciate the paint color tip as I have struggled to find a good slightly warm but not yellow, white. My last attempt made the room feel and look blue:( One question for you, I know you've said on other blogs...but one more time please? Favorite primer? Thanks for sharing your great spirit! Happy Holidays to you and yours:)
