White Chocolate Cupcake Balls

This past weekend I had the pleasure to help throw a bridal shower for my sister in law. Everything turned out great (a little stressful though considering everything I have is practically white or cream, but I only found one small stain, yippee!). We tried to make sure that all the food and beverages were white, and decorated with mostly white décor with a few pink and black accents.

The biggest hit of the party though was the white chocolate cupcake balls!

These are sooo delicious and a completely different take on cupcakes sure to spark some conversations.

Here’s what you will need:
Cake mix –any flavor
Frosting –any flavor that will go with cake mix
White chocolate/dark chocolate…any chocolate really
Decorative icing
Lollipop sticks

Directions:
Make the cake following the directions on the box.
Once baked, let the cake cool for ten or so minutes.
Take the cake, and crumple it into a large bowl.
Take about 10oz of room temperature frosting and incorporate it into the cake crumbs. This will get messy!
Make about 1 inch balls with the ‘dough’ and then put in the refrigerator to cool, or the freezer if you’re in a hurry.
Next, melt the chocolate with a double boiler or boil some water in a bowl and put chocolate in a different bowl and place that on top of the boiling water. Stir until nice and smooth.
Place lollipop sticks in cupcake balls.
Dip balls into chocolate and use a spoon to make sure the whole ball is covered in chocolate.
Place on wax paper or greased cookie sheet.
Place in fridge to harden.
Once hardened, take your decorations and go to town!
For my balls, I just did simple spirals with pink sparkly gel icing.

This takes some time, but you can do it in a process over a couple of days. I made the balls on one day, put them in fridge overnight, then finished the rest of the process the next night. Put them in the fridge again and they were ready to go the next morning!

I found these cute little cupcake liners - which were the perfect size! -in the baking area. They are made by Wilton.
