For the tablescape, I added lots of candles. If you look at the other rooms in my house, that's one of the main themes going on. There's something so magical about Christmas time and lit candles. I usually have a runner on my table...mainly to cover all the peeling varnish. But, since I got this new table, I went without one. It feels a little weird, but the garland strung throughout the candles helps to soften the look.
On the wall, I have created quite a collection of wood window frames. I added some frosted wreaths to the two arches and garland along the top frame.
My favorite thing to decorate in here is the buffet. I can go all out and make a cluttered mess and it still turns out okay :) All my trees are placed in aged terracotta pots to bring more texture and character. I've also started an old rolling pin collection during the fall, so of course, I had to show that off.
I feel like I kept everything else in here pretty simple compared to years past. I opted to not do place settings because in reality, they never get used and are just for show anyway :) I have Christmas party coming up, so maybe just maybe they might make an appearance. But more than likely that won't happen. Besides the new-to-me table and chandelier that I've updated this year, I have a new little storage cabinet that I just love! It moves around this room with the decor. I put the tree in the corner it was in before, and was destined to find a spot for it in here. This wall was perfect! Don't know why I never put anything over there in the past. Talking about that wall...the space above the board and batten is about to get some shiplap. We will see how it flows into my living room...that's yet to be figured out. But usually things like this work out, ha! :)Although this table looks small in the pictures, it's actually 8 feet long. For Thanksgiving, we had it out to 10 feet and eleven people were sitting at it. It was a little crazy, but worked so well.
I also chose to mix and match my chairs in here for more interest. I have three different styles. I wish I could find more of the spindle chair in the middle, but alas I can't so until then I'll have to use the metal ones. At one point in time, I was all about matching chairs, but I love this look so much better. It's been years in the making and my style evolves so who knows what next year will even bring in here :)
