My Summer Mantel

It's almost summer! That means the perfect time to start decorating for it :) Now only if the rain would stop! Although it has been nice not having to turn on the sprinklers yet. I guess that's a silver lining. This next week I'll be sharing my Summer home tour with you along with 30 other amazing bloggers. I can't wait! It's like strolling through model homes one after another without changing out of your pajamas. ...unless you actually do go through model homes in your pajamas...I'm not here to judge :)

I'll be showing off my home on Monday, but here's a little sneak peak.

I sadly have a really difficult time decorating my mantel. This is my fourth or fifth try and I think I finally like it :) I try to make things to busy and really, simple is better.

I love the weight and height of the lanterns and the yellow blossoms. It makes the room seem more grand. I should have taken a picture of the before mantel....it was hideous and didn't have such an effect ;)

As for where I got everything, the lanterns are a steal from Home Depot last summer. I bought a ton of them, so you'll see them scattered through out my house. The stems and bottles are from Hobby Lobby along with the middle lantern. And the mirror is from Gordmans.

I need to remember to try to keep it simple with decorating in general. I always try to add too much filler but really, just a few pieces can work together beautifully :) As for this next thing that will be happening around this mantel...board and batten! I'll be putting board and batten up in my living room but really have no idea how to transition it into this mantel...any thoughts? FYI, the hubs will not let me paint it. Bummer. I know.
