Summer Home Tour

Welcome to my Summer home tour! I'm so excited this week is finally here...mainly so I can be a voyeur and look into other people's homes. That may make me sound creepy, but I know you guys are just like that too ;) Marty from A Stroll Thru Life has been gracious enough to put together this year's tours and has included 29 other bloggers; 6 homes each day this week! There are some awesome blogs that you won't want to miss, so be sure to check them out.

Some of you are new here, so here's a little background. My house is 8 years old and we've been the only owners it for the past 7 years. It boasts everything perfectly builder grade. I used to hate the wall color, but as my style has changed I have come to adore them. I've been slowing trying to add more and more custom details throughout the house to take out the builder-grade feel and make it mine. I have a problem with changing things up too often, so if you come back next week, it'll probably look completely different :) Just check out last weeks front room post too see what I mean.

Now let's get on with the tour and total picture overload :) But, as a disclaimer, my house never, ever looks like this in reality. I know, I know...bummer. But, I have a toddler, a baby, and a lab...and my husband....so yeah. It gets pretty messy around here. One of these days I'm going to do a mock-home tour and show you all the gritty ;) Oh, wait, I've almost already done that....On to the tour!

Welcome to my home! Here's our entryway. To be truthful, I hate this tile...like I have been wanting to change it out since we moved in 7 years ago. But this picture really makes me want to keep it now. It just looks so pretty. Figures.
Off the entry way is my front room. I know it's Summer, but I can't help but have blankets around every corner of my house. They are a main staple for me. It's not warm enough if it's not at least 90 degrees...my husband thinks otherwise, but don't they all? His good temp would be 50. Yeah. You can only imagine the fights over the thermostat at our house :) I obviously lose those fights a lot...thus the blankets.

On to the living room.
This year I brought in lots of yellows throughout the house along with a ton of lanterns. To me, lanterns and Summer just go together...as does yellow of course :) I think I might  just be as bad a lantern hoarder as I am a pillow hoarder. And that's saying something, especially if you were to come over and check out my pillow hoard. It's just ridiculous and little embarrassing.
I used to decorate with candles around every corner (candle hoarder too here), but have gotten out of that phase. But now I'm loving candlesticks. For some reason, without the candles. So, really they are just sticks. I just love the decorative touch they give. The lantern and the 'sticks' are from Home Decorators Collection. A new little obsession of mine. Check them out, you won't regret it!
Here's the other side of my living room. I usually like to keep it pretty neutral around here, but I couldn't part with these pillows just yet. They add so much interest to the room.
That little corner has been a fun space to decorate too. I'm not a fan of having clocks around...I tend to look at the time way to often if they are in my face, but I just fell in love with this cute little guy. It doesn't work, so that helps too :)
I brought in a little more Summer with a conch shell I got from Grand Turk and a jute wrapped basket from Home Goods. (p.s. I wish I lived closer to a Home Goods...although my bank account probably thinks otherwise lol).
I'm planning on some big changes coming to this room this year. Some that will definitely extenuate the 20 foot ceilings. I can't wait!
Next up, my dining room. I've carried the yellows back through here...and of course the lanterns. As you can see...major lantern problem ;) I got these lanterns at Home Depot last year for $8 at their end of Summer clearance. How can you not buy the whole shelf worth? Just sayin...

I love this table, but have found another table I want instead. If you follow me on instagram, you now what I'm talking about. Now if only I can get them to give it to me for a hundred dollars ;)

Here's our sideboard. I love the idea of using the candlesticks to heighten pots.

On to my master bedroom. Not much has changed in here since I've last shared it. But it's always fun to see it again clean :) Once again...baby...toddler...dog...husband. Enough said. These lamps were also a steal. I got them from Target on clearance for about $20 each. I have some in the living room too.
This has been the first time in about a year that I haven't wanted to change something in this room. It's a serious miracle.
And for the guest bedroom. A little bit has changed since last Spring's home tour. I loved it then and I love it now. The headboard just makes me happy. In a few months, this is going to change a lot again when I make it into a nursery. Super excited to redecorate for that! As for the plant in the window...that baby has been going since February. I'm not sure how, it's a serious miracle if you know me and my black thumb of death. There are no blooms anymore, but I still count it as a success.
As for the guest bathroom, here's the first one. I still can't believe the transformation of this bathroom. Makes me happy going in there :)
And my second guest bath. This has actually stayed the same for the past few years, but it just reminds me of Summer and the beach :) Plus, the makeover was only $60. So that makes me happy too.
Last but not least, our patio...here's a little sneak peak. I have some fun plans happening here in the next few weeks so stay tuned!

Go and check out these other amazing tours today! You won't regret it :) And be sure to check back here the next few days and I'll have the next tours up!
