Reclaimed Wood Chevron Arrow Art

It's been a few years since I had this furniture arrangement in my front room which I love. But the thing that has always bugged me is the big empty wall above the couch. Everything that I have ever put up there I ended up disliking immediately. It's a hard space to work with, mainly because I didn't want it to compete with the two other walls...one of which has a gallery wall and the other one almost always has a mirror.
I didn't want too many mirrors in the same room, and I tried another gallery wall and that was just way too much. I was thinking about putting up shelves, but thought that might be too cluttered. There's also been a fair share of artwork that just didn't look right. (now I sound like Goldilocks lol) Well, I think I finally found something I like :)

It's simple yet big enough and doesn't compete with the other wall decorations. And I might just say that I finally love something...finally. Seriously, it's been years since I've been pleased with what was on this wall. Why do I have such a problem finding something I like? I have no idea :)

The process for this was super easy. I just grabbed some old cedar fence slats I had lying around, cut one at 28.5 inches and another at 23 inches. I then joined them together on the back with a mending plate. I also screwed in a d-bracket to hang it on the wall. I then painted the wood white.

To give it more interest, I decided to have the middle piece be a smaller width. I'm not sure if it's the fact that they are arrows pointing up, but it sure makes my ceiling look higher.

Sorry there's no straight on view. This is one of those rooms that is half near impossible to photograph...It's just small and limiting. Now it's time to get rid of that nightstand and replace it with something else :)

  2. Beautiful! I also love the basket that has the blanket in it what a smart idea, mine are always tossed messily on the couch
