I’ve had this Christmas tree decorated for over a month, but I kept feeling like something was missing in my holiday decor… so of course I kept tweaking it, adding little touches here and there. The first layer was the baby’s breath—my go-to trick for adding soft, airy texture to a cottage Christmas tree. But then I came across a photo with the most gorgeous starburst ornaments, and I couldn’t stop picturing them on my own tree. You know when an idea just won’t leave your brain? Yep—that was me. So I made a few DIY starburst picks, tucked them in, and instantly the whole tree came to life. That handcmade sparkle added the prettiest, subtle glow and ended up being the perfect finishing touch to my Christmas tree styling.
Here's how I made them, but first, the supplies:
Wood skewers
Step 1:
Roll the clay into small-ish balls. I started big, and then went down in size. I liked the look of the smaller ones the best.
Step 2:
Apply Rub 'n Buff to the balls.
Step 3:Add Rub 'n Buff to the skewers. I did this by adding a dab into a paper towel, and then sent the skewer down it a number of times turning it as I went. I tried a couple of different methods, and this worked the best.
Step 4:
Step 4:
Add the pointy end of the skewers into the ball. Do as many as you can, and try to fan it out to the side.
I put 5 throughout the tree. I love how it filled in some of the empty spots.

Truthfully, I didn't even let them dry. I just added them straight into the tree; figured they would dry in there :)
This room has been so fun to decorate with the new wallpaper. It's come such a long way since I moved in here, and even since last year!
Here's a before from almost 10 years ago in here!
And now:
I love that this bench has stayed in here all this time!
