Decorating for Christmas is a labor of love, and even though I had this room decorated the day before Thanksgiving, I just barely stopped playing around with things. I finally have it the way it will stay until Christmas day.

This the the room that I "can't" touch with anything Christmas until after Thanksgiving according to my husband. It's our tradition to bring out this tree and decorate it Thanksgiving night. Which really becomes me staying up until 2 in the morning decorating it by myself. The only reason why this tradition started was because my husband wouldn't let me do anything beforehand. We recently had a conversation with his family about mixing Christmas into Thanksgiving, and he said that we need to celebrate them separately...yada yada yada. I then remembered that he liked to start listening to Christmas music on Thanksgiving, and questioned him about it. Why can he listen to Christmas music, but I can't have Christmas up? He said it was because Thanksgiving is the gateway to Christmas, so he could listen to Christmas music. Then I said..."Well, then we need Christmas up during Thanksgiving." He said I had to separate the two holidays. He didn't realize how contradictory he was being until I brought it up. And long story not short....I got to put this Christmas tree and all my decor out the night before Thanksgiving this year. Now, you know what that means? I'm just going to push it earlier and earlier every year :) haha

As for the decor this year in this room, it was actually all neutrals up until two days ago. I decided I needed to add a little bit of red into it. Not much, just hits of it here and there.

As much as I want a flocked tree in here, I decided to keep this one going again this year. I brightened it up a bit by adding flocked stems, flocked snowflakes, and white ornaments.

Here's a look at the other corner of this room. Come this New Year, I'm planning on finishing off all the board and batten in here. I guess it's about time to do so :)

My mantel is one thing that continues to change. I'm usually never completely sold on how I decorate it for Christmas. I just stop at some point and leave it. Since you know, changing it up 8 times a day for a week is normal :)

Here's another view of this room where all the 'living' happens.

My small added pops of red with the blanket and the plaid pillows pull the little red details on the mantel through the rest of the room.
